Russia: market for drinking water remains promising

According to the Union of the Russian Producers of Bottled Water, the market grew by about 20-25% in 2008. Sales of bottled water were increasing by 13-25% annually on average over the last five years. The number of orders on deliveries of drinking water to offices began decreasing in late 2008 because of the crisis. The companies with the large share of corporate clients suffered at most significantly.

Demand for deliveries of equipment (coolers, pumps, bottles) decreased as well (up to 40%). According to the company Abercade, interest to equipment for drinking water bottling began growing in 2009. Investors are interested in equipment with high capacity. Experts explain the interest by the fact that the market is believed to be promising. The market is far from the saturation point and has good growing potential. Also, consumption structure is changing (demand among households is growing).
